I'm on mac and I'm experiencing an error when I try to open the game, after the question about enabling grapple sounds, regardless of if I choose for it to be enabled or disabled, I receive the following error, I'm unsure what to do about it.

OK, here's some instructions. Hopefully this helps you out:

First, make sure you still have the zipped Grove MacOS folder you downloaded here from Itch.io. If you deleted it or something you'll want to download it again I'm afraid...

Next, you want to make a new folder. Call it whatever you want, and you can move this wherever you want later.
Open the zipped Grove file you downloaded.
Open the new folder you just created.
Click and drag ALL of the contents from the Grove download to your new folder. Then try running the game again.

If that doesn't work, next try unarchiving the zipped folder (navigate to the newly downloaded Grove file in the Finder app and double-click on the ZIP file. After several seconds, the file or the folder should decompress and 'unarchive' right there.)
And then, using Finder, move the Grove application to the dedicated Applications folder.

Hopefully this works for you!

would be funny if it turns out to be a furry Fear and Hunger like game (never played it yet, obviously, writing this comment)

(+1)

Nothing like that really, but hopefully you enjoyed our game if you gave it a try!

Silly little question but how do I rescue Kuno? Am I Dumb?

(1 edit)

You need to find him in the forest! If you reach the big pool of green slime, you've gone too far.

Or if you're later in the game and he's in the river, you need to jump across the stepping stones and avoid the plants. Wait for them to go beneath the water.

I've been following the game for a while now and I just wanna say the juxtaposition of absolutely wholesome dragon moments at homebase against all the lewd, mind-corrupting monsters everywhere else is getting pretty funny.

I hope you'll keep adding to all the wonderful character and interactivity at homebase, because it's really endearing and puts GROVE above a lot of similar NSFW games in my opinion.

Thank you! We're really glad this strange contrast of attitudes is something that a lot of folks find endearing and interesting. It's something we find fun to work on ourselves.

So there'll be more of that in the future for sure, and hopefully people will continue to find it enjoyable and interesting and make the home base a relaxing place to come back to repeatedly.

I don't know how to unlock the cutscene that says [You find yourself entering a western path... and pestering a newcomer and his tent. Suddenly, your corruption flares up...]

Can you tell me if that's okay?

You need to have 10 Corruption points. When you do, repeatedly try and enter the Auxiliary Commander's tent.

(+1)

is it here?

Not this tent. It's in the area on the left of the inn. There should be a plate with a banana next to the tent (or at least close to it, if I remember correctly)

Do you have any of these?

It's the bottom-right tent, but it ONLY appears for a limited time period.

The time period begins after you replace the lever and cross the bridge to the Northern Settlement, and the time period ends after you complete the "orange assignment" quest.

I've just finished the bandits camp and explored the starting area across the bridge after placing the lever in and lowering the bridge. I reached the bed rest across the initial introduction to where the desert will start. Tuon(blacksmith) has left me and returned back to the general camp. Commander of the Auxillary  Division has appeared. I talked to him but didn't receive the armour to be able to enter the desert. I've talked to the wizard and blacksmith again and again so I don't know what I'm missing? The armour also isn't showing in my armoury. Please help I want to progress ;-;

Have you return from the place at the start of the game? there is a path down that leads to the jungle and had a quest there took me a bit to find it on my own but you just go back to the starting campsite and head down then to the and keep going to the ruins then go right.

Yeah i was running around for like 40 mins going to each location thinking i missed an interaction or chest. Thank you!!!

(1 edit)

From the front door of the Inn, walk ALL the way down to the bottom, then walk all the way to the left until you reach the cliffside. There's a new path heading downwards, and that's how to progress.

Also, you equip armour from the wardrobe in your room at the inn!

Thank youuu >~> I got to the jungle location now. Literal lifesavers!!!

Just finished everything I could in .308

Was kind of wondering two things:

1.) Is this game still being developed? Saw the Dev was working on a new game (Prowler) and wondering if I should stop holding my breath. Hope not. Really like Grove so far.

2.) Is there any way moving forward that the sex wouldn't be a punishment for the player? I feel like I'm being punished for getting better at the game as I go along. Grove is actually better than most Adult games in this regard with the grapple system, but I would love to go "further" without "failing", you know?

(+1)

This game is still being developed, yes! We're jumping between Prowler and Grove, and we've learned a lot of things that can help improve Grove through developing Prowler.
We do hope you'll give Prowler a try when the update comes out though, if only to see what mechanics and things you might enjoy and so we can get a sense of the things to bring across to Grove.

As for sex being less of a punishment for the player, we understand what you mean and it's what stirred the initial idea of our grapple system. As for more ways... we have some ideas, but making them work with Grove's actual character and personality, and trying not to like... double our workload are considerations too.
But at the very least I can say it's something we definitely do think about!

Thanks for the reply!

It's great to hear this game is still in development. And I understand the second bit might have been asking for more than I should. You've already done a great job with it.

I'll have to give prowler a try.

Loved the game so much and impatiently waiting for the continuation! I got one question tho, when I have finished the game and unlocked the gallery, are all the chests that contain scenes should be "unlocked"? Some chests don't show me scenes but show sayings that I think are hints where I can find them. Is that so or it's just incompleted scenes? Thank you.

The chests with hints can be unlocked, their scenes are complete! You need to find them in the main game using the hints. You can use older saves to go back and get them if you need to.

Good luck with going for 100%!

Really! I hope in the future there is a main character having sex with a blacksmith
Why are there empty rooms in CG space?

(+2)(-2)

Room for future expansion.

I am in a location Slug cave - the underworld . On the quest “lost and found.”

I have examined the chest and armor. In both cases defeated the purple dragons. Approached the plants on the right side of the map. And tried to beat them, but no results.

Can you please tell me what to do next?

You need to approach the pile of wood on the left. You'll make an item, which can then be used to pass the plants on the right.

I finished playing GROVE (with a taste for more) yesterday and I have to say at the moment I loved every piece of content it offers, I'm really looking forward to seeing this finished work.

Keep up the good work and take your time, good things must have their development time.

Thanks very much for both the encouragement and the patience! It's greatly appreciated, and we're super glad you enjoyed the content as much as you did!

(-1)

Thank you.

Hoi Hoi, I had a question. So I’m making my own rpg with a lust system in it too. I was wondering how I would put it into my game. I’m making it as an rpg. I’m using rpg maker mz.

Mostly asking the grove developers since it looks like they use rpg maker

Heya, not sure what you mean by lust system, the term is quite vague and Grove doesn’t really have a ‘proper’ lust system

One way is to just use one variable to control lust and another to set the lust maximum cap. When increasing lust have a conditional to check if the current lust is higher than the cap or specific thresholds and if yes, apply your effects.

- RegalBuster

oh I meant like how grove gets aroused during certain battles. Like the dream sequence. And ok how would I go about making the variables. Or if you want I can look up how to make those in rpg maker.

If you need someone to help translating this game to Korean I’d be happy to help! I’d love to see this game in my language~

Thank you for the offer. There's a lot of writing in the game so it's a big task, but if you want to give it a try, have a look into "translator++" software.

(+3)

Adding slimes that force themselves down your gullet and slowly corrupt you from the inside out would be pretty cool

(1 edit) (+1)

Just recently playing it and ohmygod I love it, like seriously! Well crafted, easy to understand combat system, niche kinks, and graphics are 10/10 :)

And whilst playing it I was thinking, can I make cz language version? If so, how should I start?

Thanks for playing our game! We're glad you enjoyed it so thoroughly!

For making translations, you'll need software like translator++. You should know there's a LOT of writing in the game though so don't feel obligated to try if it's overwhelming.

(+1)

absolutly amazing game and so much fun but I'm having  real problem with the jumping stones in the jungle areas I can't seem to consistently jump over the plants  am I missing a trick here or is it just a skill issue?

(1 edit) (+1)

There's a trick to it. Just observe the plants. See how they move up and down? You need to jump when they're down, under the water.

Hope that helps you progress and continue to enjoy our game!

(-1)

When can it be updated? I can't wait any longer

(+3)(-1)

Sorry, we don't have a date yet.

There will be an update for our second game soon. It is called Prowler. Maybe you would enjoy playing it whilst waiting for Grove.

(-3)

what a pity!

(+4)

This game has no right being "free" for how much content there is, so I donated. Excellent work from everyone who worked on this!

PS More slimes and plant latchers in the update? O.O

Thanks very much for the kind words and generous donation! We really appreciate that, truly~

Can't spoil content for upcoming updates, but we'll do our best to make it something enjoyable!

Are there any enemy defeat scenes? And is there a way to surrender?

(+2)

Uh... yes. And not specifically 'surrender' but plenty of ways to give up in combat and let enemies have fun with you.

No offence but did you actually try the game before asking these questions? These things are PRETTY apparent within a few minutes of starting.

Yeah i played a bit before sorry for asking something pretty obvious been a while since i last had played

(+5)

Game so good it made me realize I was bisexual 👍

(+3)

Well alright then! You're welcome, I think?

are there more stories left after finishing all of the assignments in Auxiliary hall? ive finished all of those, but still if i check the current tasks in room 102, it is shown as i should complete the hall assignments.

Have you done all of the assignments both upstairs and downstairs?

If you've done them all, the next thing you need to do is at night time. Use a HOT Coffee bean at the Inn, then explore around the campsite. You should be able to find something going on at the windmill...

thanks :)

(+2)

Very charming! Can't wait for Dark Places Part 2. I've loved the general pacing of the game and I loved doing the quests/mini-quests at the Adventurer's Guild (Hopefully that's the name-) and I found the combat quite enjoyable with it not being just 'Mash Z to win'.

Keep up what you're doing! (Needs more gay dragons though.)

(+1)

Thanks for the kind words! It's nice to hear some direct compliments on the exploratory nature and pacing of the game, and not just the lewd stuff!

Return to the Inn.

Walk directly downwards until you bump into the trees.

Then walk to the left until you reach the cliffside.

There is a new pathway to the south. Follow it to continue the game.

Can you tell me what to do..?
I'm so sorry...

Additionally, I don't even know how to proceed in a cyber world that went in without killing King Bandit...

In your Inventory, in your Key Items, will be items you need to deliver.

They will have a 'star' marking next to them, and a description of who to deliver, and where they can be found.

I hope you can understand the game through translation. Good luck with the deliveries.

!! Harmful Bug !!
I love this game but it has always caused me trouble booting up (on Mac), crashing at random points of the load screen. When I re-downloaded it recently, it booted up fine. But a week after quitting the application I got a pop up saying I've run out of memory space. I opened the activity monitor and nwjs was still running trying to boot up grove and failing, hogging 3GB of memory. It pisses me off that it was kept running for so long without me noticing. I'm trying to make my mac battery last this time :/

(+2)

Thank you very much for the bug report. We've been having instances of people struggling to get the game to open on MacOS lately and it seems that "nwjs" not closing properly might be the root cause.

Unfortunately we're not entirely sure WHY it's doing that, since it isn't a program we have any hand in... we're going to do our best to look into it, but for now, we're very grateful you brought this to our attention so we can at least hopefully work on it and warn others.

I don't think I have ever played a game quite like Grove. This game's story, characters, humor and even atmosphere are seriously better than some triple A games! Its implemention of rpg combat mechanics to build a smooth turn-based combat system with NSFW elements works excellently and I love the resource management part of exploration with things like managing your armor pieces and your stamina. Grove is truly a beautiful experience at all times whether it's being SFW or NSFW! I've actually been trying to get all the chests in the gallery and there's just one remaining chest that I can't seem to unlock, it's the one behind the hulking bat that says "Trapped, with seemingly no way out... a resident offers you an enticing, sensual deal." Could someone please tell me how to unlock this chest?

Thank you and congratulations to the developers for this amazing game and I'm looking forward to further updates!

(+1)

Thank you very much for all your kind compliments on our game! Knowing that Grove can come across as both very enjoyable AND unique means a lot to us, as we definitely strived hard to push RPG Maker in ways we've never quite seen done before.

As for your missing chest, you'll need to use a save to return to the mine full of bats. When you get to the area with the pink crystals, a bat will close a gate and lock you in. Go and talk to the bat and accept his offer.

Thanks for wanting to play our game through to completion, and for the very kind review!

my character won't move after the hot bean scene I'm on mobile playing it on joiplay app

(+1)

Wow, this game is a great experience. The art, the lore, every little detail. This is the perfect gay rpg style game and nothing can change my mind - i love what you did with all the puzzles and different kinds of fighting along the gameplay, made the game so much more interesting (not to mention the characters personalities and design, because oh la la). I thank the development team for this masterpiece, i'm looking forward to play future releases :). PS: i didn't even had an itch.io account before i decided to leave a comment because of the final message in the game, YOU GUYS DESERVE ALL THE SUPPORT! God, i got here by recommendation and i will DEFINITELY pass it on.

Whoa, thanks so much for the overwhelmingly positive comment, truly! It means a great deal to us to have people enjoying out game, and we're humbled you wanted to make an account just to comment here.

Word of mouth and donations help us greatly, so thank you very much for passing word along.

Hi, I absolutely LOVED the game, I can't explain how much I enjoyed the slime scenes. I'm really really looking forward to the future updates!

I had a question about the gallery feature; I've noticed I have one scene left that hasn't been unlocked yet, and was wondering if it becomes accessible if I somehow managed to find it in an older save file. I presume game over scenes become unlocked no matter the save file it happens in (because it's virtually impossible to "Save" after ending up in one), but does that apply to other scenes (which don't end up in a game over) as well?

The locked scene I'm curious about is the blue treasure chest located in the very far right gallery. I would appreciate it if you could give me an answer. Thanks! :)

Since we move the gallery around quite a bit during development, I can't really remember what scene that chest is through just its position. If you share the hint that comes with it, maybe we can help.

Buuuuuuut, otherwise, you're in luck! You can indeed go back to an old save to add gallery scenes you missed! So if you've saved relatively often you should hopefully be able to go back and get whatever you missed!

Otherwise, thank you very much for the compliments and kind words on the game! We're glad to know you enjoyed it so much you intend to 100% it!

Thanks for the reply!

I'm happy to hear that old save files work. The chest in question is about escaping the hideout with a loot or something?

Could you type out exactly what the hint says, please? I just want to make sure I'm not misguiding you.

I apologize for the ambiguous wording; I wasn't on my PC when I sent the reply.

The hint says: "You leave the bandit hideout, but with a souvenir in tow... You decide to leave this with another, until they have the necessary tools and amount of time to repair it."

No worries, thanks for clarifying.

OK, this one is a bit complicated, and there's two ways of doing it.
The first way is to revert to a save back at the Bandit's Lair when the Bandits are still around. You need to get captured by them, escape from your cell, and re-equip your clothes. You'll get an item when you re-equip your clothes, and you can give that item to the Blacksmith, who will make it into some armour for you later.

The second way of unlocking this scene is by using the Synthesis Cauldron at the Inn in order to create the latex straps. You'll need a few materials to create it, one of which can be found in the slug caverns and from defeating slugs, and the other in the desert from fighting 'shambling mirages'.
If you don't have the Synthesis Cauldron, you need to find it from a special merchant. You'll need to head back into the Slug Den in the Jungle, and follow the path through until it emerges back outside again, where you'll find a tent. If you need more clues, let me know.

Otherwise, good luck with hunting down this final scene!

I really don't know if I'm really stupid or I just don't understand how to move forward here.

I've tried everything, friend in the end, even in another save I gave myself the entire inventory and nothing remains the same

(-1)

Go back to the Inn, go to your room, to to the wardrobe, and put on the Dust Covers (the orange crystal).

Cute drakes, horny monsters, interesting worldbuilding lore and hot porn

Glad to hear we seemingly checked all your boxes!

Just a Great game and everything that's about to come, i just finish the game at the current version 0.308. I just finished it and i'm imagining how in the future i'm going to make a torch to see again the insect friend I made after the battle, to see how is he doing, haha! I never comment on any games because I didn't feel appasionate about commenting due to none of these games got hard on me, they are never long enough or the story isn't as good as I imagined. I finally found the game where I felt really integrated and really excited to keep playing and see how to story progresses. I love how you, or the developers got involved in the game and got the perfect balance with corruption, history... and all the aspects that the game has. I'm definetly going to follow both "grove" and "prowler" games. And has a future developer for software (still studying bruh :p) I see the love you guys put onto the game and that's where it hits me the hardest (on a possitive way), where the love put onto any game, catches me and that wants me to start new things and continue doing great things. There are mant aspects that I want to comment on, but I won't since you don't want to spend so much time reading this, like the fact that you guys made a gallery section that most games don't do... Keep up the good work :3, still going to comment and talk about this game in the future, I promise.

(+3)

Thank you very much for playing our game, and for the long and kind comment! We're happy and humbled to hear such overarching praise for the game and all its features, and we hope that you can enjoy future updates for both Prowler and Grove just as much!

Always a great compliment to know our game can be inspirational, too! Good luck with your own work, and thank you again for your kind comment!

Heyo! I've been playing this game since one of the earlier releases and it thoroughly impressed me for the incredible story and unforgettable characters, especially Grove himself, it made me laugh the first time he spoke to the mercenaries and everyone was surprised to hear him speak. Both normal enemies and bosses have a different and appealing design, my favourite so far is the imp (from the dream section) and unsurprisingly my corruption level is around 20.  Proudly wearing the skimpy outfit I completed the game so far and can't wait for what's next. I'm also keeping an eye open for "prowler". Best of luck and thank you for developing an amazing game.

Thank you very much for playing our game, and for the high praise! It's greatly appreciated, and it's always good to know folks are really enjoying their experiences with our kinky content.

Hope you'll continue to like what's to come in the future for both GROVE and Prowler!

Hi I can’t find the fruits for the first task please a need help

They're in the slime forest. Follow a path to a clearing, and find a shimmering spot in the grass. If you reach the big green slime puddle, you've gone too far to the right.

(+1)

Hello, please help me how do I get to Bizii

In the jungle, in the tunnels where you fight the red slugs and slug golem. There is a pathway that leads to a ladder, which will eventually arrive at Bizz.

Thanks a lot :3

This might be a dumb question but uh, where do you find that "cursed latex underwear"? idk if i accidently skipped it, but i already passed the place where we save the swordsmith.

Sounds like you missed it, I'm afraid. When you're in the slime forest, you need to save the blue dragon. You'll get the underwear after saving him.

(1 edit)

can you show me a screenshot of where i need to save him, please?

It's... really not hard. There's only two paths to take through the forest. You can figure it out I'm sure.

If you're really struggling, I'll say this: if you reached the big green slime puddle, you've gone too far.

(1 edit)

I think it would be nice to add some more synergies and strategies to the combat system, like a stun build, or something to combo with bleeding (because artery stab is not really good in my opinion).

We'll try to add more strategies to combat as we continue development, of course!

I'm enjoying the game, but I want to ask what the dreams are about. they are clearly telling a story that continues the more corrupt you are, but I haven't seen any new ones in a while. Also, will there be a new build anytime soon? Finally, do you have a patreon? I'd love to support the work.

We don't have a Patreon, but we'd greatly welcome any donations through itch.io here. You can hit the 'Download Now' button and make a donation through there, no need to actually download the game again.

Thanks for the praise and hope you continue to enjoy our game! There's more dreams to be found later in the game as you progress through the story.
